as she stood there naked
she slapped the water with an open hand
cupped, she cried out
fervor
rancor
a longing for days past
a life she could never reclaim
a feeling of silence
a silence in her soul which at one time was full of noise
joyful noise
she missed the sound

in a way, she missed them all
in a way, she’s glad to be rid of them
the life she had
too crowded
too many empty people
too many people who could not figure her out
could never understand
